StoreDot said they using nanotechnology to synthesize an artificial polymer materials, and then the material is developed with this kind of battery. It can store higher power faster, like the ultra-high density sponge to absorb and retain power quickly. The company has showed a prototype of cell phone batteries, and raised $ 117 million, they plan to use this money to develop a car battery version.

 

Although it is bulky when the prototype is used in the mobile phone, the company believes that they will launch a new mobile phone battery which is manufactured with the latest technology and a thinner fiber in 2016. At that time, charging an all-day battery only needs 30 seconds.

 

Recently, StoreDot- a technology company located in Tel Aviv, Israel, indicated that they developed a new battery technology, which can finish cell phone charging in a few tens of seconds and allow drivers to recharge their cars in only few minutes.

 

"These are new materials, had never been developed before." said StoreDot's CEO and founder Dr. Doron Myersdorf. It is reported that, StoreDot company's investors include Roman Abramovich- the Russian billionaire and the owner of Chelsea Football Club.

 

 

StoreDot companies said their immediate goal is to build the first ever instantly-charging car prototype. In addition to perfecting the FlashBattery itself, the funding will support the development of a powerful charging station, a fast charging standard, and an integrated FlashBattery management system.

 

StoreDot is using a new battery chemistry that features "nanodots" derived from bio-organic material. These nanodots are used in both the electrode, which stores the battery’s energy, and the electrolyte, which transfers energy between the battery’s anode and cathode ends. StoreDot says the electrical properties of these nanodots allow the electrode to charge much faster, while still discharging at a rate similar to conventional lithium-ion batteries.

StoreDot company raised $ 48 million from previous two rounds of financing, including the support of a major mobile phone manufacturers. But Myersdorf declined to disclose this handset makers, and just said it is an Asian company.

 

Global smart phone users will reach 1.75 billion, which means that StoreDot company will face such a huge market, and possess great potential opportunities. Some experts believe, StoreDot company will be the winner in this market. But for now, StoreDot company still needs to improve the technology continuously.

But they still face lots of problems, such as disposing of the battery dimensions and power cycles, etc. If these problems are resolved, it will be a big breakthrough." Said Zack Weisfeld- the global mobile phone industry market analyst.

 

"Compared to the current products, the fast charged cell phone's price will be higher than $100- $150 dollars. It will eventually achieve 1,500 charge-discharge cycles, and can be used three years." Myersdorf forecasted. He also hopes to use the car batteries with the same technology to fully charge an electric car within 2-3 minutes, and to avoid the current situation of charging a whole night.
